I’m really excited to announce that I’ve recently signed on to be one of the ambassadors for Sweet Scoops!*

Sweet Scoops is a fantastic, all-natural frozen yogurt brand made in New Hampshire with amazing ingredients like Callebaut chocolate, Maine blueberries, and pure Madagascar vanilla.

There are nine pure, creamy flavors, including my favorite – coffee!

This week, it inspired a recipe for a simple but delicious treat and one of my favorite classic Italian desserts, affogato.

Tips: Put simply, an affogato is a shot of espresso poured over ice cream. The contrast of hot and cold and the melting sweetness of the ice cream as it froths up is thoroughly addictive. If you have not tried it, I can’t recommend it enough. And this version – which is coffee on coffee – just makes it that much better.

Coffee affogato

You’ll need:

(serves one)

  • 2 scoops coffee ice cream or frozen yogurt (I used Sweet Scoops coffee frozen yogurt)
  • 1 shot of espresso
  • speculoos cookie (optional, as a topping)

1. Make the coffee first, a nice strong blend. {Luckily, you don’t have to be a master barista these days, nespresso is magic!}

2. Scoop ice cream generously into a glass, top with crumbled speculoos for an added crunch.

3. Right before serving, pour hot espresso over the ice cream.

p.s. Follow Sweet Scoops and s&h on facebook!

I have some wonderful rewards to give away if you’d like to give Sweet Scoops a try, so e-mail me your address at saffronandhoney@gmail.com – if you are in the US – and I’ll be happy to mail you one!

*{this is a completely not-for-profit recipe endeavor. I love Sweet Scoops, and I may get some free frozen yogurt sometimes, but that’s about it.}

That sounds delicious, C! I could mail you a little certificate for buying the ice cream but that’s about it (the actual ice cream would have to be in super dry ice!!)
