‘Tis the season, and it’s a short one.
Make the most of rhubarb by trying your hand at these recipes:
The classic: Rhubarb and blueberry pie
The twist: Spiced rhubarb soda
The savory: Rhubarb, pink peppercorn and ricotta crostini
And the sweet: Rhubarb and custard crisp
The retro: Rhubarb-raspberry soup with fromage blanc
The basic: Baked rhubarb with blackberries and maple syrup (and/or ginger cookies!)
(Anyone else notice that the word rhubarb starts to look kind of funny if you write it enough times?)
And the strawberry and pickled rhubarb shortcake is coming up next week! Some preview photos from the test kitchen: here.

Awesome, I love this. I’ll be bookmarking it for the rhubarb season ahead! That rhubarb custard crisp looks especially appealing (and unique!).
saffronandhoney says
Thanks so much, Allison! I love the crisp – it’s a “reverse” crisp wherein the crispy topping makes for a quick crust – it’s a very satisfying pudding 🙂

I love your post! My Grandad would grow rhubarb at the end of his garden but we never really got to cook much with it and me and my mum would just eat it raw dipped in sugar, even the mention of the strange word brings happy memories 🙂

Thank you!! The hardcore rhubarb lovers (myself included) do love it raw as well 🙂

I just love your new website and design. However, I am even more happy with the rhubarb round up. It is such a s short season and so many choices . I just love that sweet and sour combo. I think I will start with a slice of your classic rhubarb and strawberry pie and work my way down the list. Take Care, BAM
saffronandhoney says
Thank you so much, Bam! I love the balance of sweet & tart, as well. Happy baking:)
