I am in France for a couple more days and was lucky enough to go to the Confiserie Florian in Le Pont sur Loup the other day.
The Confiserie is a confectionary factory nestled in the mountains of the Alpes Maritimes in a quaint little village. They’ve been around since 1949 and specialize in candied fruits and flowers of all kinds – clementines, pears, oranges, roses, jasmine – many of which grow in the gardens surrounding the factory.
I took a lot of pictures so would like to share a few:

Needless to say, the entire place smells fantastic, like a heady mix of a summer evening garden, your kitchen while you’re making jam, and a chocolate factory.
They are also very generous with explanations of the processes – like dipping these lemon verbena leaves, straight off the tree, in sugar – and with tasting things as you go along.

The violet and verveine chocolates are amazing, and we all became quickly addicted to the dark chocolate dipped candied oranges.
I walked away with quite a haul – jasmine flower confit, poppy flower tea, the abovementioned dark chocolate oranges, some pates de fruit (including honey and quince), and candied verbena leaves.

Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in this part of the world.
