No visit anywhere – as far as I am concerned – would be complete without a visit to the candy factory. Boehms Chocolate in Issaquah is a little piece of Austria that founder Juliys Boehm (1897-1981) recreated in Washington.
Candy is still made by hand and you can stroll the grounds and watch hand-dipped chocolates in their various stages of preparation.
We sampled some rum truffles, marzipan, and some Hawaiian sea salt truffles (you know I love salt with my chocolate) and they were fresh and bang-on with flavor. I barely stopped myself from buying some chocolate covered Oreos. Overall, it was nice to see a place that had the new and old come together.
