If you’ve heard about the upcoming launch of Dorie Greenspan’s venture, Cookiebar, and you live in New York City, you must be excited. If you don’t live in New York at present, like me, then you are thinking whether there aren’t already enough ways in which the world is unfair.
Luckily, over Valentine’s Day weekend, Dorie (& friends & f amily) hosted a pop-up cookie store that offered a preview of the wonderful goodies that Cookiebar may offer.
The treats, needless to say, were fantastic – all of the recipes can be found in Dorie’s comprehensive tome Baking. I feel like the cookie sometimes gets lost among maybe more ‘sexy’ desserts but it is still a treat that offers a comfort and ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ true good taste that’s hard to match.
This is not to say that cookies can’t be creative either! The buttery lime coconut cookies we tried at the pop-up Cookiebar were a great new cookie flavor that subtly reminded you of your last summer vacation.
The atmosphere at the store was bustling and happy. That’s the other thing about cookies – they make people happy (like ice cream!).
Dorie herself was there and was kind enough to make time to talk to us about the cookies and culinary pursuits in general, which was very sweet and yes, very very cool!
