We are all away from London this weekend (I think) but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy these great events in the meantime.
We’ll be back next week with culinary tales of New York and Singapore.

Don’t forget to celebrate Pancake day aka Shrove Tuesday (16th February)!
Olney Pancake Race
Shrove Tuesday 16th February 2010
Market Place, Olney, Buckinghamshire MK46 4EF
Legend has it that the Olney Pancake Race started over 500 years ago when a harassed housewife heard the shriving bell and rushed to the church still clutching her frying pan and pancake in it. The 415 yard dash from the market place to the church starts at 11.55am precisely on Shrove Tuesday. To enter, you must be a woman, a resident of Olney and be dressed as a housewife in skirt, apron and head covering, tossing a pancake in a pan.

The World’s Original Marmalade Day (Sun 14th Feb – yes, some other holiday is on the same day too…)
Dalemain House & Gardens, Dalemain, Penrith, Cumbria CA11 0HB
Visit the Marmalade Festival in Cumbria. There’s a citrus-themed market, tastings, workshops and, of course, the marmelade competition.
Then read Citrus by Pierre Laszlo, a great book.
