You may have heard that Santa Claus is coming to town.
Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, I think holiday time is always a good excuse to: a) cook b) gather c) and exchange foodie gifts, of course!
I hope that some people have received this in the post already so it won’t be much of a spoiler.
You’ll need:
- 1/2 pound dark chocolate
- 1/2 pound milk or semisweet chocolate
- Add-ins, all of them finely chopped or in thin slivers: almonds, mint chips, butterscotch chips, fleur de sel, candy canes, m&ms, crushed cookies etc.
You want to get nice quality chocolate that will temper nicely and will taste great.
1. Chop all of the chocolate that you’re planning to use into 1 or 2 inch pieces. Melt 2/3 of your chocolate in a double boiler, keep stirring gently with a spatula.
2. Once the chocolate has melted, stir in the remaining chocolate pieces until they are also incorporated and melted by the warm chocolate.
3. Pour the melted chocolate on a foil lined baked sheet and spread evenly with a spatula to about 1/4inch thickness.
4. This is the fun part – swirl, sprinkle and layer in you add-ins. I made one piece of bark that was mint chip, almond m&m & candy canes and another that was butterscotch chips, almonds, a bit of salt on one end, and some cookie cookies on the other. It’s really a great way to get creative!

Just started making chocolates this week, but the bark looks great. Where do you get the lovely boxes from?
