. . . is always hard. It’s like my spiritual culinary home. A place I go to get inspired, get caught by surprise, take a deep breath, and refocus.
But look at all the lovely things I am bringing back with me. Plus chestnut honey, lots of fleur de sel, pink peppercorns, lots of vanilla, spices, chocolate, and jam.
No ‘illegal’ cheeses, I promise.
It’s been a great trip, and by the time you read this, it will be ‘bonjour, New York!’
Always a good place to come back to, full of its own challenges and rewards.

See I am not the only one to bring back stock powder! Our favourite is fumet des poissons which is so difficult to get in the UK – I usually find the shop own brand is fine. Did not know you could buy creme patissiere. Going over the channel very soon so will look out for it.
