There was a surprising amount of marketing to be done in Washington in January. The produce, particularly the collard greens, root vegetables, mushrooms, and apples, was absolutely fantastic.
We, of course, went to the famous Pike’s market which had some beautiful fish but was a bit touristy in spots.
The Fremont Farmers’ Market had a good mix of local producers and hippies :). My favorite was the Ballard Farmers’ Market – great location, a real sense of community, and lots and lots of different food on offer. I would definitely recommend spending a Sunday afternoon there and bring your dog, if you have one!
This concludes my gastronomic Seattle notes!
