I have to say that although the reviews were great, we were initially sceptical of going to eat at a place whose slogan/food critic quote on a banner outside the building said, ‘it’s’s an interesting place to eat.’ However, the Glasshouse in Ambleside proved all those doubts wrong!
The atmosphere was fantastic, the food sophisticated, if a bit all over the place in terms of cuisine, and a great time was had by all.
Here are some pictures – mains included: pan-fried pollock with celeriac, green beans and dauphinoise potatoes; pork belly with cauliflower purée, crackling and a potato and onion cake; and an aubergine (eggplant) gateux with ratatouille, fat chips and buttery broccoli with pine-nuts.
The hugely successful desert – just one by that point – was hot chocolate mousse with delicious homemade coffee ice cream. That is basically why there are no pictures of that course!
hey, great pictures! i hope the food was equally good! yesterday we went to a newly opened turkish/!!?? restaurant in new city!! i fell sceptical, but it turned out to be delicious! resembles azerbaijanian, but less fat. for main we had kind of meat patties, cooked on the skewer/beef and lamb/, we also drank airan/kind of goat milk/ and had/forgot the name/ very thick greek style yougurt with diced cucumbers and fennel, which you can eat with a spoon, as soup, or use as a sauce on meat/it came with 2 differnt kinds of rice, grilled veggies and a salad of lettuce and red onions. and the place was packed! highly recommend to people living in the area!
Sounds great! What is it called and where is it?
