I have to say that although the reviews were great, we were initially sceptical of going to eat at a place whose slogan/food critic quote on a banner outside the building said, ‘it’s’s an interesting place to eat.’ However, the Glasshouse in Ambleside proved all those doubts wrong!
The atmosphere was fantastic, the food sophisticated, if a bit all over the place in terms of cuisine, and a great time was had by all.
Here are some pictures – mains included: pan-fried pollock with celeriac, green beans and dauphinoise potatoes; pork belly with cauliflower purée, crackling and a potato and onion cake; and an aubergine (eggplant) gateux with ratatouille, fat chips and buttery broccoli with pine-nuts.
The hugely successful desert – just one by that point – was hot chocolate mousse with delicious homemade coffee ice cream. That is basically why there are no pictures of that course!
