This is very late, thank god I wrote it all down in my handy July-start moleskine.
Thursday and Friday
So I decided to break down my NY foodie account by days both for ease and clarity.
I arrived Wednesday night and Thursday morning we were off!
Thursday:
La Bagel Delight – healthy lox special
[sorry, I was too excited to take pictures initially]
Ozzies – mocha granita, which is the best ever
Black Gold – just a stop to check out all the buzz. Color me eh.
Cafe Pedlar – my kind of place (surprise, surprise, since it’s Frankie’s). Shared a pretzel + mustard and cold-brew coffee
Pacifico – guacamole, sangria and Mexico vs France
Trader Joe’s and Stinky’s trip for dinner party supplies and the best new thing (I saved it for the plane):
and then the main event – Supper Club/Me and Leah edition (thanks for the pictures, ladies)!
on the menu:
- Crushed garlic & tomato bread Barcelona style + firm Spanish manchego like Zamorano cheese
- Orzo greek salad
- Grilled shrimp
- Our strawberry yogurt tart (of course)
and a lot of fun, fun, fun!
Friday:
Breakfast at Locanda Verde, a new favorite weekday brunch location – lemon ricotta and blueberry pancakes, Karen DeMasco’s zucchini bread and uova modenese (cotechino hash, spinach, tomato hollandaise and eggs). Love it here.
Light lunch over football at Rue 57 – nervous England mix-and-match match food: edamame, warm mushroom salad, copious amounts of iced tea.
Drinks at Cafe Chambord & Botanica (going along with the theme of ‘we’re NOT hipsters, are we?’) – oh, ginger beer. Also, coconut water, later.
Dinner at the Meatball Shop (hi, Michael!) – new favorite place – spicy pork meatballs, napa cabbage salad, peanut butter cookies (unbaked) and homemade blueberry ice-cream. Mmmm.
I want to do it all over again, as usual.
TBC (Pt 2 coming up this weekend)

luck you! though the mixture of the places you chose is very different, it looks surprisingly to still be on the healthy side/or does it?/ i love the pictures and the general atmosphere. but think that the best was when you cooked yourselves. that”s the most fun, i think–the process of cooking/and eating/. and this site helps other people to experience the fun like that! thank you!

I don’t know, healthy may be an overstatement : ), but it wasn’t too crazy.
I think anything related to food and bringing people together around food is fun!
