I won’t say anything you haven’t heard before, but France is fabulous. The laid back atmosphere forces you to slow down – something I really need to do from time to time – breathe in the salty seaside air, and refocus on the simpler pleasures in life. Like, say, eating a macaron.
Jean Luc Pelé in Cannes is making savory macarons, something I’ve always been fascinated by. There is an entire foie gras series – with a subtle richness enhanced by figs, confit onion, fleur de sel, and pain d’espices “ginger bread.” The latter is my favorite and a fantastic pairing I would recommend serving with regular foie gras instead of plain bread.

They were actually surprisingly wonderful (well the ones with fig and pain d’espices at least:)).

i bought a cookbook with the beautiful photos and “how to” for macarons. Just love it…will probably never make them, but I so admire the shape and colors! You must be having such a fantastic time! 🙂
