King Arthur’s Flour Bakers’ Banter is really my dream place to be. For my friend Lyndall’s surprise birthday cake we made something that KAFBB calls the Tunnel of Love, which I think is pretty funny. The cake is really a dense lemon poundcake/bundt cake with a fluffy coconut filling and an intense lemon glaze.
Under the cover of top secrecy, we gathered last Wednesday night to bake this baby and it turned out to be delicious. Detailed step-by-step KAFBB instructions here. You need quite a lot of ingredients (it’s a big cake!) so I suggest some prep work beforehand. We didn’t have any cream of tartar around and the store was sold out (!) but we just substituted it with more lemon juice/vinegar.
Needless to say, the surprise was a success and Minyi went a little crazy with the Lomo camera!
