Returning to FFWD finally and what a week to come back to it – this savory cheese and chive bread will be a wonderful addition to my friends’ dinner party tonight. This is a beautiful quick bread recipe that allows for easy additions of whatever you like.
I used Old Amsterdamer and Gruyere cheese, added sundried tomatoes, pine nuts, fresh thyme and rosemary
caramelized onions and a clove of garlic (cooked with a splash of white wine)
and also made little bite-size ‘biscuit’ versions:
Hopefully it will be a hit at the party!
See what all the other FFWDers made.
You picked a great recipe to return on:) Welcome back. Yours sounds delicious.
Thanks! Glad to be back and the bread is a great new staple recipe.
Great additions and I love the bite-sized version.
Thanks, Teresa! It’s been hard not to snack on the bite-sized ones.
You are so right about picking a good week to return – easy and lovely results. I love what you selected as additions and have not seen or thought of the carmelized onions – particularly great idea with the texture they would lend. Wonderful post. Good luck with next weeks !
Thanks, Tricia! The onions are terrific in it, if you give it a try next time – definitely recommended.
Great thought on the caramelized onions. I am sure they played off the other flavors really well. It certainly helped to product a lovely loaf.
Thanks, Cher! Everyone at the party devoured it happily:)
Your bread looks great! I made muffins as well! The pic of the onions caramelising looks sooo good!
I turned around and all the mini-muffins were gone in an instant! 🙂
The onions were definitely a great thing to add, both in terms of texture and taste.
Welcome back to FFwD! Your bread looks wonderful and I really like the additions you chose.
Thank you, Elaine! Your muffins look fantastic too!
Mmmm caramelized onions? I’m in!
They’re great, aren’t they? And make the whole kitchen smell so good.
Yours is my favorite combination I’ve read about with this recipe. You had me with the initial list, but the caramelized onions clinched it. Nice job!
Thanks, Betsy! I was really happy with the flavors and everyone at the party loved the bread too.
Love your changes to this one! Of course, I am a sucker for anything with caramelized onions.
Thanks, Candy! It turned out to be a winning combination.
