So one lovely snowy evening, we went to sit by the cozy fire at the aptly named Sip in Issaquah. It being Washington, I had learned and was no longer surprised to see people in fleeces and sporty gear at a nicer restaurant establishment – it was actually king of nice to break up the usual pattern. I wore a ratty sweatshirt :).
We had some great drinks, were entertained by our waiter who kept asking us if we were ready to play musical chairs yet after getting really hot by the fireplace, and shared some appetizers and dessert.
We had the crabbiest crabcakes I’ve had in a while – no extras, just delicious crabmeat in a region known for its crab. Served with pickled habaneros.
A fall trio of appetizers with lovely peppery mushrooms, butternut squash, and delectable fig jam (so, so good). Separately, they were all great, but it wasn’t clear if they were supposed to be eaten together and I’m actually not sure how well the ‘trio’ went together besides the butternut+fig combination.
Lyn had some truffled mac’n’cheese, which – for a side plate – was huge and extra creamy. Mmm truffles.
The best dish by far was the dessert coffee ice cream filled profiteroles. The caramel sauce was a touch too sweet but these were still the perfect finishing touch.
