Thanksgiving is, hands down, the best food holiday.
It is really the best time of year to give thanks and to indulge, re-connect, and create new wonderful memories.
I am excited because my family will all be here this year so we plan on having a feast. Custard-apple pie (notice how I start with dessert!), traditional Russian pastila sweets, dad’s mashed potatoes, a crisp green and radish slaw, a spiced lentil and mint side, cranberry sauce, pumpkin bread with spiced pumpkin honey, pumpkin pie, caviar and smoked salmon and gravlax, the duck, of course…and other things I am probably forgetting that are on my list.
So here are some of my very favorite holiday recipes – I hope they make their way to your family table.
To start:
Cornbread with caramelized onions
Shaved butternut squash and pumpkin seed salad
Roasted acorn squash with honey and paprika
In the middle:
Parsnip puree with fried sage and walnuts
To finish:

What a feast of a menu. The puddings look particularly appealing. Love claufoutis.
