One of my favorite unexpected spots – and NYC is full of them – is Wave Hill, a public garden, located in Riverdale in the Bronx.
The garden delights in all seasons, but, of course, is particularly enchanting in the summer when everything is in bloom.
Plus, there is the added benefit of Sunset Evenings hosted on select Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer season.
The greenhouses are a wonder, but the herb and dry gardens are a joy to discover as well.
Wave Hill is a former family estate that was deeded to NYC in the 1960s.
Since then, it has been lovingly cared for by the city and its many visitors throughout the year.
I hope you get to visit this magical place whenever you’re in New York.
Make sure to enjoy the panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Palisades across the way!

How beautiful! Reminds me a little bit of our local Botanical Gardens, with the exception of the river.

A lovely spot to visit…I’ll have to suggest it the next time we visit friends in Connecticut as we usually make at least one day trip to NY.
