I always enjoy Georgeanne Brennan’s writings on her life in Provence and the cooking that it has inspired. You may have also heard about her company La Vie Rustic – it supplies Provencal wares and gardening seeds for planting local herbs and flowers. (Sidenote: I gave my mom one of their potager garden kit for Christmas to try out!)
Windows on Provence is Brennan’s latest book. It’s not exactly a travelogue, as much as a collection of postcards and recipes offering a glimpse inside the sights, sounds, and scents that make Provence so recognizable and so lovable.
I particularly enjoyed the chapter on the Scents of Provence – not just lavender, but also orange blossom, jasmine, thyme, rosemary, and bay leaf.
The book is full of colorful photos that capture local moments that really give you a feel for the different towns featured in Windows on Provence.
The Fish Soups of Provence was another favorite section, of course, as they really are prepared so differently as you travel and taste them throughout the region. I would aim to try them all!

{Windows on Provence will be published in April 2018. I received a preview copy from Yellow Pear Press.}

This is the time of year when I start thinking about where we will go for our fall trip to Europe. Provence has been calling my name lately, its been about five years since our last visit there.
