Happy Thanksgiving (weekend)! I hope you all enjoyed your festive feasts.
So this was not an altogether traditional Thanksgiving… We foraged for some Japanese maple (doubtlessly, inspired by recent Japan travels) for the table.
Instead of apple pie, we made apple streusel/strudel (hint: you can get the easy recipe here).
and instead of turkey, we made an orange-glazed smoked chicken (but we were a very small group this year):
Still, there were brussels sprouts and squashes and persimmons galore.
and caviar because, apparently, the theme of this table was “everything delicious and orange”
(which I am more than okay with)
Now I’m off to watch the new Gilmore Girls (I’ve only been waiting for this forever).

It sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. Sometimes an unconventional holiday meal can be even more special, especially when the dishes are as good as the ones you chose!
