Mother’s Day is coming up here in the US and brunch reservations have been made weeks in advance (Jean Georges for a special occasion!) on what is the busiest day of the year, and theater tickets have been booked.
But it’s really the simpler treats and personal attention that tend to really touch your mum, no matter what age you may be now.
Here are some lovely ideas for a surprise breakfast in bed – because who doesn’t love that – featuring the popular apple and double cheese grilled cheese sandwich, a recipe you can definitely handle.
Or make the perfect egg & cheese sandwich for a quick take on a croque madame.
And if your mum has a sweet tooth, believe me, crème brûlée oatmeal would make for the perfect surprise.
I believe that flowers are always necessary for any occasion, particularly now that it is properly springtime and the selection is so beautiful and fresh.
Add a personalized card (I made this one on Shutterfly!), adding that to the breakfast tray or to this less traditional, but no less cozy, board. You can also pop it in the mail, if your family lives further away.
You’ll be happy and mom will be happy.

I love the presentation with the colorful napkins! And I would prefer the recipes you shared to going out. I love eating in when the food is special…and crème brûlée oatmeal? Oh my goodness…I would feel like a queen. 🙂

Thanks, Alice! She doesn’t come to visit here that often these days so, we are going to make the most of it:)

I’m still drooling over that double cheese and apple grilled sandwich Ksenia! So delicious. This is a wonderful idea for Mother’s Day. I actually haven’t made my mother breakfast in bed for some years due to not living at home anymore… but now I’m plotting to turn up early at her house and do just this! Lovely ideas. Gorgeous post x

My mum lives in another country, but given the opportunity, we must seize it! Such a fun thing to do. Thanks, Laura!:)
