Just back from Hawaii and with Thanksgiving a little early this year, it is time to get planning pronto!
We are going a little out of the box at home and will be making turkey legs (braised!) and duck (roasted!) as this year’s birds. Non-traditional, but I am completely looking forward to it. If you’re also making duck, consult this foolproof recipe!
Here are some of my favorite reliable Thanksgiving recipes to get you through the holiday in a delicious and stress-free way:
{ps.} This may also help with some of the stress: the drink above is the spiced pear cocktail!
Appetizers:
Parmesan muffins
Pesto Pinwheels
Butternut squash hummus
Pissaladiere
Entrees:
Turkey meatballs
Mushroom ricotta tart
Whole roasted duck
Orange chicken
Sides:
Black sesame brussels sprouts
Pesto potatoes
Dad’s mashed potatoes (always a must!)
Sweet potato and parsnip gratin
Desserts:
Yogurt gateau
The best apple tart
Apple and quince tart
Pumpkin cake
Chestnut and chocolate pie (the easiest!)
Happy eating and gathering! I will be back this weekend with a full report of our tablescape and traditional Friday brunch – can’t wait!
In case you missed it, I did a primer post last year on setting the holiday table.
